About Assynt

The history-filled parish of Assynt is situated in the north western corner of Scotland. Assynt is famous for its mountains and lochs, for ground-breaking socio-political achievements in community land ownership by the Assynt Crofters' Trust and subsequently by the Assynt Foundation, for its astonishingly varied past residents, from the Norse to Picts and even stone age inhabitants, Assynt has a rich marine heritage as well. Among the townships in Assynt are Lochinver, Stoer, Drumbeg, Nedd, Elphin, Inchnadamph and Inverkirkaig. Our mountains include Quinag, Canisp and Suilven. We have creative artisans, excellent and varied eating as well as great places to stay.
